Tim & I have put a lot under contract in Leland, just across the river from downtown Wilmington (convienently, where I work). The neighborhood is about 2 years old, so it is ready to be finished off. There are around 10 (probably less now) lots left, so we discovered it just in time. The community is one of smaller starter homes, but it has several cool amenities that most neighborhoods in that low price range do not – a pool, clubhouse, and sidewalks. The neighbors all seem to be pretty relaxed and take pride in their homes.
We had a choice of 7 floor plans, and chose one whose size is in about the middle of the plans, but we liked the layout and exterior the best. The experience has been especially enjoyable because we were able to pick out the little specifications of the home – the color of the house and shutters, the kitchen cabinets and appliances, flooring, etc.
Now we are playing the waiting game. The neighborhood is selling a few months ahead of actual build time, and our home is estimated to be completed by the end of June or beginning of July. I thought it would be fun to chart the progress. In fact, I’m taking pictures, and I will post them here as progress is made. Here are the first few…
Here are some pictures of the community in general:
