The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan.    My quick and dirty review?  I gave it 3/5 stars on goodreads b/c the idea was cool, but I didn’t really get that close with the characters, and each chapter was basically an excuse to introduce a new monster and  a new fight.  It was kind of corny.   On goodreads, I described it as “Harry Potter, without the AWESOME” and I stick by that.  I probably won’t pick up the second in this series because it didn’t do that much for me.

ETA:  I just found out they made a movie out of this!  It’s coming out in Feb 2010 and already has a trailer up on the web.  Crazy!

Now, on to bigger and better things….I just started Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games which I read in July and looooooooooooved.  I’m excited!
